Nature

The nature of the Lycian Coast is overwhelming and diversified. From Olüdeniz and Fethiye are leaving daily boattrips to experience this. We recommend the 12 islands tour, a trip to Gocek (for the market) or around Gemiler island.
Mount Babadag (1900m) is close by. You can take the Teleferik to 1700 meters and watch paragliders who will land near the beach in Olüdeniz. The view from the Babadag is spectacular.
Saklikent is a huge cleft, where even in the summer the water is bursting out of the mountains.
Dalyan is famous for its turtle beach. A small boat will take you through the beautiful delta to the beach.

Sports

Walking: Kayaköy is very suitable for walking. For example to Afkula monastry (6 km), Gemiler beach (6 km), Olüdeniz (7 km), Fethiye by the old Roman way (7 km). The famous Lycian walking way starts in Hisarönu and ends in Antalya.
Cold waterbay is just over the hill, and can be reached by foot (40 min. walk).
Other sports like mountain-biking, horse-riding, paragliding (duo-jump), diving, kayaking, rafting, squad riding and sailing can be booked in several offices in Hisarönu, Fethiye and Olüdeniz.

Culture

There is a market on Monday in Hisarönu. On Tuesday and Friday in Fethiye.
When you are looking for the Hamam, there is a traditional Turkish bathhouse situated in the very old mosque in Fethiye near the bazaar. Also in Hisarönu  you can find hamams and a lot of hotels offer Turkish bath facilities and services.

History

Kayaköy is the place to be when you love history. Just 150 m. from our villa you will find the ruïns of the old Kayaköy. This is a realy amazing open air museum. In 1923 people had to leave their houses and left the village uninhabited.
Tombs carved in the rocks can also be admired in Kayavalley, Fethiye and some beautiful ones can be found in Dalyan.
In Patara, Tlos, Xanthos and Letoon are old theatres, towns, temples etc. It is just an hour drive by car.

Beaches

Gemiler beach can be reached by Dolmus or with your rental car in 10 minutes (6 km.). The famous Blue lagoon in Olüdeniz is about 12 km. from Kayaköy. You can take the Dolmus to Hisarönu and take there the Dolmus to Olüdeniz. If you like to walk, you can walk to Cold water bay. Also this beach can be reached by an unpaved road with you own rental car. Further away are Calis beach, where you can go directly via Fethiye or take the taxiboat from Fehtiye, which is a lovely trip. Patara beach is one of the best beaches of Turkey, a very accessible wide and long sandy beach. But about 1 hour drive from Kayaköy and mostly visited together with other visits like Tlos and Saklikent.
